With the benefit of Doster’s instruction, student creations can be found on the grounds of public and private schools (prek-12) in many states. As a resident artist, he has contributed to the enhancement of over 100,000 students' educations. When tight budgets make artist residencies unattainable, he welcomes students to his studio, gallery and garden to ensure their accessibility to the arts. The York County Cultural Commission awarded Doster 2007 “Keeper of the Culture” and Doster was named “S.C. Hero of the Child 2001” for his efforts to make arts learning assessable to youth. "Walk into any of our elementary and middle schools and you'll see the fruits of his unselfish efforts to share his love for the arts with our students and schools." - Patricia Burns, Lancaster County School District superintendent
