Bob Doster is an internationally-acclaimed artist who makes his home and studio in Lancaster. Bob's unique style of metal design ranges from free-floating steel in multi-colored tables and accent pieces to monumental sculpture.
He is the winner of the 2006 Elizabeth O'Neill Verner artist of the year award - the highest honor awarded artists in the State of South Carolina.

Bob Doster has been an influential artist in both the education and commercial realms for more than 30 years. His monumental sculptures and functional artwork can be seen in galleries, museums, private collections and in public displays worldwide – from the corporate collections of SAKS 5th Avenue, Apple Computer and Wachovia to the grounds of elementary schools across South Carolina.

Gold Hill Middle School will host S.C. artist Bob Doster as an artist in residence during the week of Jan. 28.

Doster will work with students at the school to create a 12-foot palmetto tree on site out of stainless steel. Doster will incorporate student designs that reflect the spirit of Gold Hill Middle School into the leaves of the palmetto.
